It All Began in Gloucester
Gloucester, Massachusetts – Its blue waters and crisp sea air energized my soul. The love of family and friends allowed me to soar to heights I never could have imagined.
“My Matlacha Courtyard” received the 2024 Island Odyssey Award by the Alliance for the Arts and the Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau of Lee County, Florida.
My three-minute film documents a glimpse of the amazing sights and sounds of life on the Matlacha Preserve in Matlacha as I experienced
it during my time as a resident of this wonderful community.
We can not replicate memories but we can remember and cherish their beauty.

What an honor to receive an invitation to speak at the 61st North American Invitational Model United Nations conference. In February 2024, I was invited to address, the “Las Soldaderas: Heroines of the Mexican Revolution,” committee which focused on the active role Mexican women took during the revolution in caring for the wounded, acting as spies, supplying food, and bravely raising their firearms and intellectual weapons against the injustices that laborers faced. Since 1963, this conference has been a forum in which a dynamic range of young students come from around the world to seek solutions to the various problems of the world through discussion, negotiation, and debate. It was an inspiring experience. Congratulations to NAIMUN for this remarkable achievement and best wishes for its continued success.
